HAPPY HALLOWEEN

HAPPY HALLOWEEN, originally uploaded by Helen Rawlinson.
A busy day at Holiday Club. Halloween is such a no nonsense theme that the kids get it straight away. A few pumpkins/cats/witches/skulls and such, dotted about and they go crazy. I have to get a bit bossy about the colours or they all end up black!
I was a bit more slap dash this time..a year on from my first official workshop..but I'm really happy with the results. Children are just the best in terms of one liners, inspiration and energy. So the odd pushy comment, moan about waiting and ink going everywhere, slipped off my back this time, not that I've got much of a back left after all this lot!

It's always good to have a focus when I make something new.  So thanks to Edith and Jarvis for inspiring me to move on this idea and adding a personal touch. Happy Birthday kids!
I'll be printing more to order, hopefully for the Christmas hungry crowd.

Of course the S is homeward bound.

Just can't get enough!

Well I'm really milking this one!  I feel like this design is going to hang around for a while, so I may as well make the most of it!  I've actually had these two ideas in the pipeline for a year now but just never seemed to have the time to take decent pictures and do all the uploading.  Well they are finally here!

The poster came from some work I did with my poet friend, John Hegley.  Back when I paid a visit to my old mate Rachael Howard in West Kirby.  John was invited by Rae to the local primary school to do a workshop with the children...I'll blog more later when I've got all the details as it was a while ago and I've got to get some work done today!

We  were all exhausted by the end of the shoot!

and the Winner is......

Taken in a rather dark kitchen this morning.  I somehow haven't had the time before now, so apologies for the wait.
Albeit a bit blurry, it's the lucky Beth who gets all the goodies! Stanley found great amusement with this game as he loves folding and unfolding things.  When we read the name out he was even more pleased because his old nursery teacher is called Beth and that was good enough for him, so much so, that he folded it up and took it to school.  So Beth, you are now in Stanley's pocket.  Must try this game again with other words/colour/shapes/numbers etc. as it would be great for reading practice and word association games.

Thank you all, for joining in and I'm sorry I can't give you all a prize as they were such lovely comments.
Anyway, back to Beth, otherwise known as The Linen Cat, maker of fine things:
 CONGRATULATIONS!

Birthday Giveaway!

Today my little dream boy is FIVE!
I can't quite believe it, where did all that time go?  He was so happy this morning as I packed him off to school with his new notepad (Current Paperchase home page = favourtie pattern, caused tantrum in shop when I wouldn't buy it for him, then had to return to London Central yesterday to get it!)

So the number 4T shirt is out the window and here comes number 5! A bit more transportable this time as I made it into a badge.
Stanley's party will be on Sunday and as mentioned, these little critters will be the party bags.  To celebrate and pinch myself lucky, I'm doing a giveaway of all 4 bags, plus something extra = FIVE LUCKY THINGS.
All you need to do is 5 simple things:
  1. Visit my Etsy shop and tell me which of the four designs is your favourite
  2. Heart another item in my shop whilst you're there
  3. Visit my lighting shop and tell me which lampshade you like best
  4. Tell me any of the above via this blog, my Facebook Page, or Twitter (you don't need to do all 3!)
  5. Go give someone a hug and thank your lucky stars you've got them.
There you go. I'll do the draw in 5 days time (Tuesday at 5pm GMT), but I'll need more than 5 comments or I'll extend it for 5 days more!
Happy Thursday x

Halloween Cometh.....

I'm not going to get away with Halloween this year as Stanley, who is just about to turn five, has been invited to a little gathering.  So today, I did some printing for the said occasion and here we have my, not quite sure about them, results.  Needless to say I did a few extra, so have popped them in my shop!  It was the worst day for photography but I had to get it all done in a day, or I would start to feel like it was all a bad idea.  Etsy becomes riddled with Halloween overkill, so I'm afraid I've jumped on the bandwagon and joined the ghoulish parade......

Moroccan Tile New Colour

Just sorting through my fabric stash and realised I hadn't listed this colour in my Etsy shop.  So I've corrected that one and can now share with you all!  Not much else happening as I've had the dreaded lurgy for the last week.
